Nick McGuffin Civil Rights Lawsuit – Complaint & Press Release

Community Involvement

In its continued effort to remain involved in its community, MLR proudly supports the following organizations.

Oregon Innocence Project (OIP)

The OIP is a joint venture of the Oregon Justice Resource Center and the Metropolitan Public Defender, which is set to launch in April 2014.  Oregon is currently the only state that does not have a local Innocence Project or similar program.  After it is launched, the OIP will be dedicated to securing the release of wrongfully convicted inmates and providing an outstanding educational experience for law students involved in OIP.  Additionally, the OIP will work with community partners to build support for comprehensive criminal justice reform to improve eyewitness identification, interrogation practices, discovery practices, and other Oregon policies that do not serve to protect the innocent or punish the guilty.

Portland Children’s Museum

The mission of the Portland Children’s Museum is to inspire imagination, creativity and the wonder of learning in children and adults by inviting moments of shared discovery.  The Museum was founded in 1946, and is now the sixth largest children’s museum in the country.  Each year, MLR proudly supports the “Be A Kid Again” auction to support the Portland Children’s Museum.
